About the Summit

The Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners of Color is bringing its 2nd Annual Educational Summit to Nashville, Tennessee โ€” and this year, we are going further.

Following a powerful inaugural gathering in Baltimore where over 100 PMHNPs from across the country came together for bold conversations, learning, and community, we are expanding the experience to 1.5 days of education, connection, and collective momentum.

This summit is built around a vision of what psychiatric-mental health nursing looks like when PMHNPs of Color lead โ€” with innovation, cultural responsiveness, and unapologetic community impact.

This year’s theme, Forward Together: Innovation, Advocacy & Excellence in PMHNP Practice, reflects the full scope of what PMHNPs of Color bring to this profession โ€” as advocates, clinicians, leaders, educators, and system changemakers. It honors both the science of our work and the cultural contexts that shape it.

Summit Focus Areas

This summit will explore:

  • Advocacy as a professional responsibility โ€” not an optional skill
  • Modern, evidence-based clinical approaches that strengthen diagnostic and treatment excellence
  • Leadership across clinical settings, communities, and business spaces
  • Innovation and technology โ€” AI, telehealth, and digital mental health
  • Nontraditional PMHNP roles that expand influence and impact
  • Culturally affirming care as the foundation of ethical and effective practice
  • Community partnerships and systems-level collaboration to address disparities
